This is the start of my journey into Solo RPGs and using the blog to review, list, and show my game for each of the RPGs I play through.
The first of these games is going to be Tinyoji (2025), a cosy solo journaling TTRPG made by Sparuh (itch link). According to the developers Tinyoji is:
- Wonderfully Cozy & Wholesome: Immerse yourself in slice-of-life stories. Experience the warmth of village life and the simple beauty of nature. A perfect feel-good game.
- Perfect for Solo Play: Designed primarily as a solo RPG experience, Tinyoji thrives on personal reflection and creativity. It’s also easily shared with 1-2 friends for a quiet, collaborative evening. No Game Master needed!
- Simple & Accessible Mechanics: Uses an easy-to-learn d6 dice system. As a beginner-friendly rules-light RPG, the focus stays firmly on your story, not complicated stats. Jump right in!
- Quick & Relaxing Sessions: Enjoy meaningful, satisfying play in just 15-20 minutes per session. Ideal for busy schedules, moments of mindfulness, or a peaceful end to your day.
- Unique Keepsake Journaling: Document your journey! The game encourages you to create Keepsakes – written notes or drawings of memorable moments – filling a unique Keepsake Page. This turns your game into a personal artifact and provides excellent creative writing prompts.
- Experience the Changing Seasons: Journey through Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, each offering unique Seasonal Trails filled with evocative scenario prompts that bring the world to life.
You can get Tinyoji as either a digital download or a physical copy:
- Tinyoji on itch.io
- Tinyoji on Amazon – according to the developers the best way to support them
Escape into the Peaceful World of Tinyoji: Your Cozy Solo Journaling RPG
Step away from epic battles and complex rules. Welcome to Tinyoji, a rules-light tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) designed for quiet moments, gentle creativity, and heartfelt stories. If you’re seeking a relaxing, narrative-focused experience you can enjoy solo or with a friend, you’ve found your perfect escape.
In Tinyoji, you take on the role of a villager in a charming hamlet populated by tiny humans, mice, otters, and other delightful folk. Life moves at a gentler pace, shaped by the changing seasons. Your adventures aren’t about slaying dragons, but about the beauty found in everyday moments—tending gardens, baking bread, helping neighbors, and watching the community blossom through your care.
Now to actually read the book! I’ll pin this post and share my thoughts and journey with you as I go through it.
13/05/26:
I’ve started going down the rabbit hole of Solo TTRPGs and Tinyoji is the first one I’m trying out, mainly because I could buy it as a physical book.
I’ve spent several days reading this back and forth, mulling over the various tables and following all the moments and year examples in the book and to be honest it is still a bit overwhelming.
I’m pretty sure this is due to me never having encountered a solo journaling TTRPG before and unsure of how to start more than anything else.
Chock full of Oracle charts to help guide your way, this is a cosy game that takes you through the year completing ‘moments’ in each of four seasons. The ‘goal’ is to complete multiple years, mending and helping, overcoming obstacles and celebrating achievements until your locations are completely upgraded or you have a full sheet of keepsakes.
On reading it feels very low stake and low pressure, with your imagination coming up with the full scenario and outcomes, journaling that in a language/form that suits you and making connections and friendships throughout your village with other villagers.
I’ve not played this yet but will be getting a sheet started on this Saturday coming and if you want you can follow along.
